Lanny Poffo grew up in a wrestling family. His father, Angelo Poffo and brother "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Angelo who was famous for doing sit-ups for 4 hours and 10 minutes, shattering the Naval record for quantity and speed with 6,033 sit-ups in 1945, was the promotor of the International Championship Wrestling territory out of Lexington which saw the Poffo brothers wrestling regularly.

By the mid 80's Lanny Poffo was under contract by the then World Wrestling Federation known as "Leaping" Lanny Poffo who's trademark was bringing frisbies to the ring with his poetry on them and throwing them to the crowd.

In 1988 Lanny self-published a 172-page book of his poetry titled "Wrestling with Rhyme" which you can still find available at amazon.com.

In early 1989 Lanny Poffo debuted his new heel gimmick in the WWF known as "The Genius" who would get heat by reading poetry that rudely knocked his oppenent prior to his matches. "The Genius" gimmick was undoubtably Lanny's most successful gimmick which skyrocketed his career in the WWF as one of the top heels between 1989 and 1992 appearing on many WWF Pay Per Views including WrestleMania and even earning him a spot on "Regis and Kathy Lee" in 1990.

Since Lanny's time in the now WWE, Lanny has focused on writing. Recently releasing his latest book "Limericks From The Heart (And Lungs)" which features 335 anti-smoking limericks. You can find more information on "Limericks From The Heart (And Lungs)" at www.white-boucke.com/limericks.html
